Dr. Prince Afriyie

Prince Afriyie is an Associate Professor of Data Science and the Director of the Residential Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) program. Afriyie’s research includes multiple comparisons, as well as statistics and data science education.  

Dr. Brian Wright

Dr. Brian Wright is an Associate professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Data Science at the University of Virginia. His research sits at the center of Education and Data Science, and he is currently working to develop predictive algorithms to increase Algebra 1 success in K-12 settings.

Dr. Maryam Vareth

Maryam Vareth leads Berkeley Institute for Data Science's data science research efforts in the Health & Life Sciences. She solves unmet needs in healthcare to enhance patients’ experiences, and is an advocate for “data-driven” medicine.

Dr. Qing Zeng

With 20 years of experience in informatics, Dr. Zeng has special expertise in text mining, consumer health informatics, and semantic integration of data sources. Dr. Zeng’s research vision is to leverage information for healthcare research and delivery, with her main research areas being NLP and consumer health informatics.

Dr. Besa Bauta

Dr. Besa Bauta is a Chief Information Officer known for her outstanding leadership in technology infrastructure and cybersecurity. She possesses extensive expertise in data management and analytics within the healthcare sector, and is internationally recognized for her proficiency in AI and healthcare. Currently, her research is centered on enhancing data processes and upholding ethical standards in the implementation of AI.
